Alfonso Sosa

The Spirit of Alfonso, one could say, was a Visionary one. This was a man that would dream, paint a grand canvas of life and act in a grand way. His love for the complexity of nature, so elegantly expressed in the valleys of Westport, his thinking and reflection of how about this grandness came about, is reflected in his painting work as well.

As the story goes, he simply fell in love with the land and purchased it, this was simply the only way he could express his feelings. Back home, he put his wife and kids in the car and off they went, to visit the wonders of the Westport Valley. Tragically, an early and sudden death, took life out of Alfonso, but his Spirit remained with the redwoods of Westport, whispering his ideal of how to learn from nature and how to gift that to his kids....
The Sosa Land Trust

In 2006 the Sosa family under the guidance of Alfonso's wife Loretta, started the process of transforming this beautiful valley into a Land Trust. The aim of the Trust is to dedicate the land to redwood restoration and preservation and to expand Alfonso's dream of teaching and educating the coming generations on how to do this.
