The Land

The absolutely unique quality of this land is that it harbors a valley with large meadows that is located so that it cannot be seen from the ocean yet allows spectacular sideways views to the north looking at the 'lost coast' with its dramatic cliffs that seemingly hold the redwood trees in suspension.

Stewardship of nature

The Sosa land trust is trying to attract a non profit interested in active restoration and stewardship of the valley to expand and restore the redwoods, to expand the idea of active redwood restoration in the coastal area, and expand this knowledge of active restoration and active stewardship of nature to coming generations.

Target Groups

The non profit partner that the land trust is seeking to connect with should be able to expand on the legacy of Alfonso Sosa, both in his desires for preservation and restoration as well as active education without harming the land. It is understood that just letting the land be as it is will not suffice. The redwoods have been too compromised by previous human interference and now need active restoration.
